What keeps some of us afloat in this harsh river of life?
Life is a river with a current so strong there is no stopping; no matter how many times you try you get cut, bruised and battered along the way only to learn to stop resisting & “go with the flow” or “roll with the punches”. Raising a child in this modern environment is to be done carefully and analytically causing many ups and downs highs and lows. Experiencing those here in this body is just the tip of the iceberg!
These are some of many joys of being a single father…
A simple hug, kiss, smile, or word from your little could serve you as your very own life jacket that floats you humbly through rough rapids to a lake of gratitude and love of unfathomable depths. These are some of many joys of being a single father learning, growing & experiencing (as if we can’t get enough).
As a single father it was never easy.
The cons are life events or decisions that damage our relationships with the mother of our child, mental health, egos, and pride. As a single father it was never easy. What we lack in attendance due to work, we make up for with one on one attention and love. From birth the child is attached to the mother more so than with the father for obvious biological reasons. It seems to be a brief, sad time for us as we see the baby crying and reaching for momma & her milk. We must appreciate this moment though it’s not our time, it will be eventually.
As long as you put in the time and affection…
As long as you put in the time and affection your child needs to form a connection so strong its said to be unbreakable as a father-daughter bond. A wise man once said “Every man WANTS a son but every man NEEDS a daughter.” People say things like “his/her first word”, “his/her first steps!”, And “there’s a first for everything!” Notice the pattern? Some obsess over the FIRST anything, I know I did. As time went on, I grew with my little and noticed that not just the first of everything was special but the repetition and repetitiveness of everything was all special as well. It’s a beautiful process to watch and learn as they do. We literally can see the gears turning if we pay close enough attention.
She’s learning. She’s growing. She’s perfect.
Children carry the light of the future.
They are the very piece of you that lights up their path as we guide and shine them through. Sweet soft words from their tiny voice box is a switch to melt your heart with ease. Each and every word that comes from my little is moving to me in volumes. She’s learning. She’s growing. She’s perfect.
Love your littles, Dads. You will gain all the happiness in the world. You deserve it.
